As well as resolving issues, it is very important to be able to view yourself with your new habits or behaviours in place.    


Future orientation means bringing those desires to the forefront of your mind by engaging your imagination.  This means with guidance and then on your own using all your senses to experience that new reality.  



For example, say you plan to lose weight, how you will look, what you will be thinking, what others will be saying to you, how this new state of affairs feels, and so on.  Building a strong picture and sense of how things will be has an impact on your unconscious mind.  It becomes a "goal" if you like that is more firmly fixed in your mind that you are working towards and then maintaining.  Of course, you can "tweak" and elaborate your imagery at any time.
